The Dying State of the English Football Pyramid

The EFL are considering that the usual blackout 3pm games may now be scrapped when a new TV licensing deal needs to be negotiated for 2024.  While initially this may seem positive, perhaps more eyes on the lower leagues from SkySports viewers could boost the value of the league. This is an unlikely reality however.
The English football pyramid is collapsing and we are beginning a sleep walk into a super league. Not only is the premier league beginning to face competition issues with money driving success and teams such as Bournemouth and Southampton are simply unable to ever reach the levels of teams such as Liverpool or Manchester City with those two sides in particular being subjected to embarrassing 9-0 defeats in recent times.
Championship teams and those below are the true victims of this new era of football where financial prowess is prominent over anything else in the game with the smaller teams having to resort to money tactics in recent years to even have a whiff of Premier League success with the likes of Brighton and Brentford being the most obvious examples of this. And the fact of the matter is the new generation of fans do not care about the passion of the lower leagues and supporting your local club. They want the spectacle of Champions League success. This has caused attendance ratings for clubs to drastically drop in recent years with titans of the game such as Blackburn Rovers having a measly 34% attendance last season. This newly proposed TV deal will simply only make things worse. People will have even less incentive to now actually attend matches and can now choose the easy option of sitting at home and watching the game instead.
If the 3pm blackout is lifted in 2024 the EFL has begun its walk to the grave and we will see more teams mismanaged and go into financial problems and administration like Derby and Bury.
